Julie Nash

"With a versatile background in ceramics, drawing, design and textiles, I am currently working with mixed media on board, experimenting and discovering.

This new series is all about plants and the important role they play in my life. Their energy force is strong and ever present. They are a feast of colour and shape. They are easily satisfied, reliable and nonthreatening. They give me respite and peace when I am in their surrounding presence.

Through the use of strong design elements like line, shape, and texture, I am trying to convey their individual characteristics. Like the playfulness of dietes, the directness of bougainvillea, the exploding beauty of agapanthus flowers and the determination of jasmine. Working closely with these plants has been like developing new friendships and I am looking forward to my continuing work.
