"Shape and form that is pleasing on the eye, a curve or bend, a hole, or a shape without a name mixed with colour and texture, the blending of different materials and the variation of the things that hold them together or separate them at a calculated distance that seems to suit. Things with detail that can amaze, the feel, the smell, the light, the sound and the natural movement of some sculpture that adds grace and alters the shape.
We can go on forever so to keep things minimal, sculpture for me, and I hope for others is a creation that can be viewed with interest and appreciation long after you first meet.
Pieces are created after my thoughts have finished with the design. I think about a particular idea for a sculpture for as long as it takes to settle on the form, build method and materials before the work begins, although there are usually many alterations along the way to allow the mind's picture to materialize.
I have been designing and manufacturing within the engineering field for over 30 years, so within my sculptures there is structure, movement and quality and the endless search of pleasing form.
For me sculpturing is relaxing and enjoyable. It doesn't involve rules and specifications and control by authority. It allows me to use my creativity and knowledge of materials to create works that may just have something you have a bit of trouble describing.
Sculpture is the appreciation and interest in the creation that never tires."

Narelle Telford <elemental perspective>
"This exhibition is a celebration of this Earth and her wonderful landscape. Recently I have been on an Australian mainland Odyssey from Darwin to Perth, covering the inland areas of Kakadu, the Pilbara plus the Kimberley and the West Australian coast, including the Aboriginal reserve of Cape Leveque. Prior to this trip, I backpacked through Mexico. In Australia, our vast open spaces are sometimes so overwhelming that I find myself honing in on more intimate details; such as tree bark, individual rocks, leaves or colours underfoot.
Each painting uses colour, composition and occasionally different perspectives or textures, to express both my feelings and the emotions the subject evoke in me; rather than being an attempt to reproduce a conventional lifelike image. Whether contemporary or abstract, the style and subject matter vary, so interpretation of a piece can often be left to the individual.
Whilst a lot of my work tends to be done in 'a series', with constant, subtle variations on a recurring theme, each series is different and does not preclude me from expressing myself in strong, and highly individualistic pieces. My paintings are a celebration of this wonderful Earth!"
